It’s still cold & windy here, so I was forced inside for my long run, but the rest were done outside in temps between 25-35 degrees. As long as it isn’t raining and there’s no ice on the ground, I’d rather be outside. Saturday it was wet & windy, so we headed to the YMCA for treadmill runs. Our boys had a sleepover so we were able to both spend about 2.5 hours on treadmills before going to pick them up. Paul logged around 15 miles and I got in around 12 miles. Our Y has a 30 minute time limit on all cardio equipment, so every 30 minutes we hop off, make sure there are plenty of machines for anyone waiting, get a drink, and choose a new treadmill. It’s certainly not my favorite way to run, but it’s done.
I’ve been training for Dopey for 24 weeks now, with just 3 weeks left to go. I’m tired of “training” and feel like I’m definitely coasting downhill since the Indy Monumental Marathon at the first of November. I know I’m not running for time in January, just running to finish, and I’m confident I’ll be able to do that.
After checking the weather forecast and our holiday plans, I’ve decided to move up my “mock Dopey” run to this upcoming week. I’m planning on 4 days in a row – 3 miles, 6 miles, 12 miles, and 24 miles. I’ll do another 16+ mile run the weekend after Christmas, then coast into marathon weekend.
