RunDisney announced today that they’re adding both a new race distance and a multi-race challenge to the Disneyland Half Marathon, traditionally held over Labor Day weekend in Anaheim, California.

RunDisney has not hosted a 10K race since the Race for the Taste ended in 2009 to make way for the Wine & Dine Half Marathon, held each fall since 2010 at Walt Disney World.  The Disneyland 10K will be a timed event and take runners through the Disneyland and Disney’s California Adventure theme parks as well as the streets of Anaheim.  Runners ready to take on 19.3 miles over two days can register for the Dumbo Double Dare, which involves running the Disneyland 10K on Saturday and the Disneyland Half Marathon on Sunday.  The untimed Family Fun Run 5K is also scheduled for Saturday morning and there will be kids races on Saturday as well.

“The 10K distance is the third most popular distance for runners next to the 5K and half marathon, so this race weekend will have it all,” said runDisney Events Manager Kathleen Duran. “We are excited to continue to add different distance races so runners at every level can experience a runDisney event and run through Disney theme parks.”

Registration opens for all Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend races on Jan. 22, 2013.
