2014 will be the inaugural running of the Walt Disney World 10K on Friday, January 10, 2014.
The Walt Disney World 10K will begin at 5:30 AM in the Epcot parking lot. Transportation to the race will begin 3:30 AM from all Walt Disney World resorts. Participants need to be on a bus before 4 AM. Monorail transportation will begin at 3 AM. There will be four water stops on the course.
The race will start in the same place as the 5K, but runners will quickly be heading the opposite way. The course goes out to the highway and follows the first mile or so of the half-marathon and marathon course, but in reverse. There will be a water stop just before mile 2. Runners will cover almost 3.5 miles before entering World Showcase near Mexico. There will be another water stop at mile 3.5.
In the fourth mile, runners will exit Epcot through the International Gateway and circle the Boardwalk. Another water stop will be located near Jellyrolls, then runners will continue around the Yacht & Beach Club and re-enter Epcot to finish the race with the same final mile that the Wine & Dine Half Marathon has followed for the past two years. There will be a fourth water stop just as we re-enter Epcot.
We’re going to run behind the old Millennium Village building up to Avenue of the Stars. We’ll turn right, run between the Soarin’ show building and the Imagination Pavilion, go through Innoventions, and around the Fountain of Nations before ducking backstage to get to the parking lot and the finish.
